“No amount of money can possibly erase the trauma and the injury that result from an accident, let alone the death of a loved one. But people who are injured certainly deserve an attorney who will treat them with respect, patience and compassion, and who will represent them with all the best resources to make sure they are properly compensated by the defendants.”

Searching for an attorney after an accident is often a matter of necessity and urgency. Injuries can be so life changing that an attorney can seem like a true saving grace when insurance issues arise. Lauri Goldstein knows the time following an injury accident is often too traumatic to overcome without the support and advice of a legal professional.

That is why she decided to dedicate her professional career to providing firm legal representation to those who have been wrongfully injured in any type of accident in the state of Florida. As a personal injury and accidents lawyer with A Law Firm of Goldstein, Schmitt & Cambron, PL, she has the chance to help people in so many ways.

Lauri moved to Florida at age five and grew up in Fort Lauderdale with her parents, whom she cherished and idolized. They taught her the importance of hard work and ethics. Her father worked as a security guard and her mother owned a clothing boutique. They worked and socialized with people from all walks of life, and those interactions helped Lauri better relate to clients from all economic backgrounds. This firm, nurturing family environment prompted her to attend Florida Atlantic University, where she graduated in 1985. She then went to work in Washington, D.C., as a paralegal, which made her decide to go to law school.

Lauri attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, and successfully obtained her juris doctor only two and a half years later. Upon graduating, she went to work for a large insurance company in Delray Beach, Florida. Later, her mother became ill, and shortly thereafter her father did also. She lost both parents to cancer at a relatively young age.

In 1995, Lauri opened her own practice in Stuart, Florida. She has utilized the insight she gained at that first job just out of law school to successfully satisfy claims for her clients who had been injured by others. “I saw them muscle their way out of paying claims they should have paid, time and time again,” she noted. This experience has created a tough adversary in Lauri, and she is a relentless advocate who is always available to her clients. She represents numerous victims who suffer from unfair situations. “Many times it’s a case where someone gets hit in a vehicle, no fault of their own,” she reiterated. “Maybe they don’t have insurance, yet the person has numerous and costly medical bills. We will try to help them.”

Over the last two decades, Lauri has represented professional athletes, well-known entertainers, published authors and blue-collar workers. Although these clients may be in different tax brackets, they are all the same when they walk into her office, in pain and in need of help. Her staff describes her as compassionate, patient, loyal and trustworthy. She has been involved with key leaders in Washington, D.C., including several presidents, through her philanthropic efforts. She is also an advocate for the doctors in the community and affirmed, “We do not take malpractice cases here. I’m a friend to the doctors, not their foe.”

She is well aware that her clients need to reach her at all hours, not just nine to five, so her cell phone is posted on her website, and someone is available to take calls at her office 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “They are all afraid of what the future holds, and all deserve quality representation,” she explained.

Those philanthropic efforts have become near and dear to the heart of this passionate, caring woman. She loves helping children, the elderly and the environment, and her firm has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to many notable charities. She has assisted local elementary schools, including Hobe Sound Elementary School, Port Salerno Elementary School and Pinewood Elementary School. Her community concern extends to the purchase of bulletproof vests for local police dogs.

She also assists other organizations and firmly supports nearly 50 non-profit organizations, including hospice care, cancer charities, Alzheimer’s care, homeless services, veterans’ causes, area arts programs, Hibiscus Children’s Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Tykes and Teens, The House of Hope, Temple Beit Ha Yam, the Florida Oceanographic Society, the Council on Aging, Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center and many, many more. She has sponsored the Riverwalk Jazz Series that provides free outdoor jazz concerts during the season.

In 2011, Lauri was recognized as the Woman of the Year by the Woman’s Club of Stuart at their annual fundraising fashion show and luncheon, and she was nominated for the Outstanding Small Business of the Year by the Association of Fund Raising Professionals in 2010.

Her staff is comprised of people who have been with her for years. She repaid that loyalty in 2004 after Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne destroyed her Stuart office. They were shut down for a few months, but she continued to pay her employees and worked day and night to get her business back to normal. “I ran the practice from two locations, while I was four months into a highrisk pregnancy!” she smiled. “I knew I had to do what I had to do.”

Lauri is a fiercely dedicated wife and mother. She has been married more than 20 years and has two children. She believes that family comes first. Her core values are such that she not only has the strong commitment to family, children and the elderly but also has a great honor for U.S. servicemen and women. Her father served in the Army and received a Purple Heart for bravery. She has represented military families, and once she helped a family in which a serviceman was struck by a tractor-trailer while on his motorcycle shortly after returning home from duty in Afghanistan. He was killed, leaving a wife and child behind. She tirelessly worked for this family, who was awarded the second–largest motorcycle accident verdict in the history of the state of Florida.

She currently holds membership in the Martin County Bar Association, the Florida Bar and the Florida Justice Association. She is a member of the Martin County Lawyers Associates and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and is a Florida Supreme Court-certified civil circuit mediator.

“No amount of money can possibly erase the trauma and the injury that result from an accident, let alone the death of a loved one,” Lauri asserted. “But people who are injured certainly deserve an attorney who will treat them with respect, patience and compassion, and who will represent them with all the best resources to make sure they are properly compensated by the defendants.”

Lauri provides sage advice to women desiring to follow their own dreams. “To thine own self be true. Treat people in life the way you want to be treated. Always be a lady. Keep your cool. Choose your words before you speak them. Keep your sense of humor. Don’t take anything personally. Hard work pays off.”

These are all wise words to follow, from a woman who knows the dedication of living them.
