Family and Facebook

By  0 Comments

I used to think there was a strict separation between my work and my personal life.

But then I had kids, and that changed my whole world.

Sometimes the only thing that you will see on my Facebook page @ErinKCTV5 now are my family and kids pictures.

Since I’m a broadcast meteorologist, you see me on TV every morning, but engaging and interacting on social media are also now very important parts of my job.

There used to be a time when I was more hesitant to post family pictures. I would mainly post weather and news content. And don’t get me wrong; I still post about the forecast or big upcoming storm systems that may impact you, but day to day now you will more than likely see more of me and my kids than anything else on my social media feeds.

I think this is a reflection of who I truly am now. At the end of my days I might be known as Meteorologist Erin Little or that TV weather lady, but in all honesty, I hope that is one of the last things I am known for. I hope I am known as a good mother, wife, sister, daughter and part of our community.

Being a mom is all encompassing, and I think since I became a mom I am now a better professional and meteorologist too. I think of my forecasts differently now. It’s not just about the highs and lows and rain chances, but how the weather will impact you and your family.

I am just like any other parent; my children are always on my mind and in all my thoughts. They are my life. Family is first for me always, and I am thankful to work in a place today that understands and embraces. Come find me on FB and Instagram @ErinKCTV5!
