Tanya and John Trimborn

By  0 Comments

Unique family and fitness scenarios were the common themes that brought Tanya and John Trimborn together when they met at the gym. Their mutual love of exploring new places took them to the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where John surprised Tanya with a quadrillion cut sparkler in January 2017.

They fell so in love with the venue, built in 1886, that they decided immediately that it too should be the setting for their exchange of vows on July 23, 2017. Additionally, the hotel packages offering cake, minister, musicians, flowers and two nights of lodging fit within their budget.

HERLIFE Magazine readers will recall that the bride was our April 2017 cover, spotlighting her inspiring story of coming as a seven-year-old child from Belarus for medical treatment that allows her to now have completed seven half marathons with prosthetic blades.

John started his career as a professional fitness trainer and is now in business-to-business outside sales. Along with “sleeper” cars, which don’t look fast but really are, he loves his 17-year-old Maltese, Jr., and his 9-year-old daughter, Addyson, in reverse order!

Tanya’s years in America were spent with three host families, all of whom grew to love her. Now, at 27, she wanted to honor all of her American dads by having each one escort her a third of the way down the aisle. John had opted for open collar but incorporated the colors of gold and silver into the pocket squares worn by all the men. His surprise to the bride was his choice of cuff links in the colors of the Belarus national flag.

Additional pieces of jewelry affixed to the bride’s bouquet, carried in a cooler all the way from KC, were a ruby heart, a cross and a ring, from each of her American moms as her “something borrowed.”

In choosing her gown, “tradition with a twist” was the vibe she selected in an all-lace dress. Though her hair previously had been trialed as a sleek chignon, the morning of the wedding she changed her mind and told the stylist to throw out the earlier look and add a braid, texture, pearl studs and a crystal comb, and she loved it!

Eschewing a full bridal party, Tanya was preceded only by Addy and Jr. down the staircase and across the lawn to a waiting John, who cried through the entire emotional processional with her dads. The couple was adamant that they wanted that moment to be authentic and not manufactured by seeing each other prior to the ceremony. It was the best decision they made and they are so thrilled to recall that emotion when they see the photographs; they swear they can still hear the guitars playing in the background.

As Tanya’s birth family participated by Skype, the couple exchanged vows and later first bites of vanilla cake. As their 40 guests enjoyed an afternoon of appetizers and cocktails, the newlyweds shared a video of their childhood and showcased prints of their courtship.

After a honeymoon to Amelia Island, the couple is making their home in Lenexa, Kansas, where all those families and all that fitness run together in a stream of first-year newlywed bliss.
