Mellony and Kevin Mann

Tied the Knot: May 12, 2018

Mellony Mann, age 33, earned her doctorate in physical therapy from Rockhurst University and is currently employed at Children’s Mercy working as a sports physical therapist. 

Kevin Mann, age 32, is a CPA. Kevin enjoys playing guitar, cooking and cheering for the St. Louis Blues hockey team. He and Mellony live in Overland Park, Kansas.

“Kevin and I had many opportunities to meet over a handful of years through mutual friends and events we had both attended, but for some reason we never officially met,” Mellony smiles. “It wasn’t until Kevin saw my profile on match.com that we struck up a conversation. In October 2015 we met at Westport Café for our first date and the rest was history.”

It was a rainy day when Kevin casually suggested running an errand together. “Taking an unexpected turn, we pulled into a park and I became instantly confused,” she recalls. “We walked along the trail, finally stopping in an area with a beautiful view of downtown Kansas City. Kevin proceeded to explain that we were standing on the state line of Kansas, my home state, and Missouri, his home state. Kevin suddenly dropped his umbrella, dropped to one knee and offered me a ring.” 

The blissful couple tied the knot May 12, 2018. Mellony’s Matron of Honor was Hilary Dopfel, her sister, and bridesmaids were friends Jennifer Talone, Pam Carter, Karin Clements and Amanda Heughan. Best Man was Ryan Mann, Kevin’s brother; groomsmen were Christopher Meister and Tim Boeshaar. Leah Dopfel and Landon Carter served as flower girl and ring bearer. Jaclyn Lawson and Tracie Jackson, friends of the bride, served as usherettes.

“Our wedding day was more perfect than we could have ever imagined,” smiles Mellony. “We spent the whole night on the dance floor surrounded by family and friends who even a year later are commenting on the fun they had helping us dance the night away. We wanted our wedding to be everything Kansas City as this city had become our home and was what brought us together. Having our wedding downtown and our reception on the Plaza allowed our family and friends to experience everything we love about this city. 

Mellony and Kevin honeymooned in Greece during the trip of a lifetime, visiting Mykonos, Santorini and Athens. ■
