Mary and Kelly Tie The Knot

Mary Ryan Fisher, 39, is a Dayton, Ohio, native and a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio. Mary has been
employed as the commercial accounts coordinator at Sunlighten, Inc. and Sunlight Day Spa for the past seven years. Mary sometimes enjoys golf and cycling with Kelly, but mostly she enjoys motorcycle riding, traveling to see friends and family in Austin, Texas, Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio, and is looking forward to learning to ski this winter.

Kelly Fisher, 42, an Olathe, Kansas, native, is a graduate of Wichita State University. He recently accepted a developer position with Netsmart Technologies, Inc. Kelly is an avid cyclist and participates annually in Bike MS and other community organization rides. He is also a founding member of a local Kansas City cycling club, The Good Time Gang. Kelly enjoys motorcycle riding, golf, snowboarding and traveling to ride in nationwide cycling events. Mary and Kelly make their home in Overland Park.

Mary clearly remembers the date she and Kelly first met. “We met February 28, 2012, through EHarmony–it’s online dating at its best! We had lunch at Fred P. Ott’s in Overland Park, and it was the best lunch date ever!”

Kelly’s proposal was on a beautiful fall night while they were enjoying their shared hobby of riding bikes. “It was September 20, 2013,” Mary shares. “We decided to ride our Harleys to the 2013 Plaza Art Fair, and he asked on a bench along the waterway! Now the Art Fair will always be a special event for us to attend annually.”

The blissful couple tied the knot on June 14, 2014, at Pilgrim Chapel. The wedding party totaled nine; Kelly’s sister, two friends, one male, one female, and his Best Man stood on his side, and Mary’s two best friends and her niece, as junior bridesmaid, stood on her side.

“We chose Pilgrim Chapel because we loved the church and the overall intimate feel,” Mary reveals. “Our guest list was approximately 55, so it was the perfect size. We selected Boulevard Brewing Company and Joe’s Kansas City for the reception because that allowed us to incorporate our favorites of Kansas City into our celebration. Our guests had a wonderful time and enjoyed the food and surroundings of the brewery.

“Aaron and Connie Zack held our rehearsal dinner at their home,” Mary notes with appreciation. “We were honored that they hosted a lovely event and welcomed our families into their home. Aaron and Connie prepared all the food, complete with a signature drink, summer surprises and abundant floral arrangements.”

For their honeymoon, Mary and Kelly made a nine-day tour of the Pacific Northwest through Seattle and Victoria, British Columbia, then took an overnight train to San Francisco. “We chose that part of the country due to the time of year and climate–June’s too hot to visit resort islands or Mexico. The weather was perfect during our entire trip and it was great to get out of the Midwest summer heat! One of the highlights was an overnight stay and moonlight massage at Salish Lodge and Spa outside of Seattle in Snoqualmie, Washington. The spa overlooks Snoqualmie Falls and you can hear the water rushing down the mountain during spa services.” HLM
