Lorin and Joe

Tied the Knot: September 24, 2016

Lorin (Gochenour) Rhynerson, 28, completed cosmetology school in 2007 and is a hairstylist at Blonde and Company. Lorin loves spending time with her family and traveling the world. She and Joe reside in Paola, Kansas, where she has lived most of her life.

Joe Rhynerson, 32, grew up in La Cygne, Kansas; he works at the La Cygne Power Plant as an operator for Kansas City Power and Light. Joe loves his Harley and enjoys riding his dirt bike and fishing when the weather permits.

On Fourth of July several years ago, Lorin was invited to a barbecue; she didn’t feel up to it, but her friends convinced her to go. Another guest was a guy with shaggy hair, a Rob Zombie T-shirt and ripped jeans; something about his wonderful smile and great attitude attracted Lorin. “We spent the whole night talking and laughing like there was no one else at the party. We have been inseparable ever since. I knew I would see fireworks that night, just not in my love life!” Lorin laughs.

Joe used a special vacation day to propose to Lorin. “We were in Cabo, Mexico, for my best friend’s wedding, and decided to stay an extra day to have some time to ourselves,” remembers Lorin. “On that day, we laughed, played, and at the end of the day went a restaurant on the beach. After the meal, Joe asked what I would have changed about the trip, and I replied that I would change nothing, that it was an amazing trip. When I asked Joe the same question, he said, ‘I wish that when I went deep-sea fishing, I had gotten a catch.’ That’s when he pulled out the ring and said, ‘It’s not too late for that!’ It was absolutely perfect that he used a fishing line to propose!”

The blissful couple tied the knot on September 24, 2016. Lorin’s Matron of Honor was her sister, Paige Needham; bridesmaids were Debbie Wehmeier, Laura Gray, Rachel Johnson, Michelle Angell, Courtney Arnote and Sara Rhynerson. Joe’s Best Man was his twin brother, Lester Rhynerson; groomsmen were Jesse Rhynerson, Rich Rhynerson, Daniel Beemer, Dylon Needham, Daniel Reedy and Billy Baker. Ushers were Nick Gochenour, Jaden Jeffery and Riley Rhynerson; the precious flower girls were the bride’s nieces, Tynlee and Londyn Needham. Jaden Allen kept the guestbook for guests to register their attendance. Parents of the couple are John and Terri Gochenour and Mike and Shirley Rhynerson.

“Our wedding day was wonderful,” shares Lorin. “After our first look and taking pictures, there was someone I really wanted to see before I walked down the aisle, because I knew she couldn’t come. So we gathered my mom, sister, aunt, photographer and videographer and drove to the assisted living center where my 94-year-old grandmother lives; I wanted her to see me in my dress and have some photos taken with her.

“We returned to my parents’ home, where we were married by Joe’s father, which was a special touch,” Lorin smiles. “Then we moved to Town Square Paola for the reception, and the rest of the night was full of love, laughing, dancing, eating and fun.”
