Kelsey and Steven Tie The Knot

By  0 Comments

Kelsey Nicole Ross, 24, graduated from Oak Park High School and continued her education at Maple Woods Community College. She earned her degree in dental hygiene in 2014 and works at a dental practice in Kansas City, Missouri.

Steven Ross, 26, graduated high school from Blue Valley Northwest High School and then went to three different universities, playing baseball at all three. He graduated from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith with a degree in business administration and works as a marketing consultant in addition to sharing a real estate business with his father and brother. Steven and Kelsey live at the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, where they love the convenience of the area’s restaurants and shops.

“While Steven was playing baseball at Maple Woods Community College, I was taking classes for dental hygiene,” smiles Kelsey. “Let’s just say that Maple Woods is not a very large school, so we were going to cross paths at some point. We ended up running into each other at the gym. He turned to one of his baseball friends and said, ‘That girl’s mine!’ as he pointed at me. Before you knew it, we were going on our first date!”

For his proposal, Steven created a praise-worthy surprise for Kelsey. “For my 23rd birthday, he said he had a nice dinner date planned,” Kelsey recalls. “We pulled up at Brio, where we had our first date five years before. He blew right by the host stand, saying he had a table reserved upstairs. At the top of the stairs, we were standing in front of a red curtain; he said, ‘Close your eyes,’ and opened the curtain. My family, his family and all of our friends were there, and I assumed they were there to celebrate my birthday. Before I knew it he was on one knee and popped the question! Of course, I said ‘Yes!’” Steven had arranged for someone to film and take photos of Kelsey’s memorable moment.

The blissful couple tied the knot on June 6, 2015. Kelsey’s Maid of Honor was Tracy Miller and bridesmaids were Jessica Mitchell, Lyndee Blades and Allison Sullivan, with Katie Schneider as junior bridesmaid. Steven’s Best Man was Ben Ross; groomsmen were Scott Angevine, Kevin Murphy, Neil Smith and Ryan Gros.

The wedding day began early, as the wedding party dressed at the Hilton. “It was such a relaxing day for both Steven and me; we were both able to spend time with our friends and family,” notes Kelsey. “I did a first look with my dad, which was such a magical moment for us to share. Then we went in separate groups around KC, taking photos and taking care for Steven and me not to see each other.

“We returned to the hotel for the ceremony, and as I walked down the aisle with my dad my breath was taken away by how beautiful the room was and seeing all of our close family and friends present as we were about to take our vows, and then seeing Steven for the very first time that day. We both had tears in our eyes. It was such an unforgettable moment.

“After the ceremony, our guests enjoyed cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres as a limo took the bridal party to scenic locations for photos. Then we returned to the Hilton for dinner, speeches, toasts and dancing; it was truly our fairytale wedding and we wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

Kelsey and Steven honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas at an all-inclusive resort, where they swam with the dolphins, took a sunset dinner cruise and relaxed by the pool and beach. HLM
