Kate & Zane Tie The Knot

Kate Patton, 29, is a graduate of Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, earning a degree in business administration. Kate was born in California and raised on a lake in Camdenton, Missouri, so she loves being outdoors and on the water. Kate and Zane live in Liberty, Missouri, with their spunky Chihuahua, Kingston.

Zane Patton, 32, is a graduate of the University of Missouri, where he received a degree in horticulture. Zane has owned his own lawn care and landscape company since 1998, and he enjoys farming with family, friends and duck hunting with his dad and younger brother.

“The way we met still makes me smile,” shares Kate. “We know that it was God’s plan that led us together. I attended a baby shower for a close friend, and if you had told me I would be set up with my future husband, I would have never believed it. By the end of the shower the host, who worked at Zane’s father’s law firm, said Zane and I had to meet. I remember all of us laughing at how this blind date would go, and joking that this could be ‘forever.’ A few weeks later I was on a blind date meeting someone I now cannot imagine living without!”

Zane proposed while the couple was in California for a friend’s wedding. “After the wedding, we drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to San Diego, stopping along the way at the house I was born in and places I visited as a child,” Kate smiles. “It was so sweet that he wanted to see where I grew up. He said it would be fun to take a helicopter ride; despite the tours needing to be booked ahead of time, we somehow ‘lucked out’ and they squeezed us in! We flew over the beautiful coastline and headed toward the wineries in Temecula. Suddenly the helicopter landed at one.” The pilot continued Zane’s plan, saying he loved this winery and brought them for lunch! Kate and Zane were met with champagne. “I remember being giddy and Zane playing along; during the tour we entered a dark room filled with hundreds of barrels of wine. I noticed glittering candles everywhere and the tour guide leaving. Zane had our song playing and took my hand to dance. The next thing I knew he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was a perfect and special moment in so many ways.”

The blissful couple tied the knot on July 18, 2015. Matron of Honor was Elle Steadman and Maid of Honor was Kara Sevilla. Bridesmaids were Shannon Jones, Heather Thomas, Kelly Patton, Brandi Freese and Kimmie Allen. Brock Patton was Best Man; groomsmen were Michael Patton, Alex McClain, Bernie Raasch, Justin Scott, Nate Shada, Charlie Green, Ryan Clifton and Jeremy McBee. Brennan Jones, Ryan Jones, Jacob Patton and Jonathan Patton ushered, and Cole Hocklander and Cameron Martin lit the candles. The precious flower girls were Madysen and Emersen VanNess, and Carson VanNess was ring bearer.

“The date was meaningful to us, as it followed the wedding anniversaries of Zane’s parents and brother,” Kate reveals. “The day was filled with love, laughter, excitement and happy tears. Thanks to the help, love and support of our families, we made it personal, creating a way for my grandmother, who was recently in the hospital, to be there via Skype. From the hand-made white and purple pew bows, gold glitter-painted picture frames displaying parents’ and grandparents’ weddings, the fun putt-putt golf station and the candlelit purple centerpieces, it meant so much to us both.” Family and friends danced the night away during the reception at Union Station.

Kate and Zane honeymooned at the Sandals LaSource in Grenada, where they spent time relaxing and soaking up the beautiful scenery and sun! HLM
