Blaire & Alex Tie The Knot

By  0 Comments

Blaire Prince, 22, graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University and works as a registered nurse at The University of Kansas Hospital. She’s a mother-baby nurse and loves going to work every day. In her free time, she loves to knit and do chalk hand lettering for bridal and baby showers.

Alex Prince was born in Michigan and moved to Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 13. He is an avid fisherman and likes to spend any time off he gets golfing with friends. He graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a degree in business administration and is a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual. Blaire and Alex live in Olathe with their two dogs, a golden retriever named Kingsley and a mutt rescue dog named Mika.

“We’re middle school sweethearts,” smiles Blaire. “We met at church when I was in seventh grade and Alex was in eighth. One year later, we began dating, which generally meant we sat by each other during church services and then ran off to our friends giggling and smiling at each other from afar. After about a year of that, we realized that this puppy love we had going could really be something much more.”

Blaire was a bit surprised by Alex’s proposal. “We spent the day going to all of our favorite spots in Kansas City–Quay Coffee in the morning, then to the farmers’ market in the City Market area downtown, then to the Country Club Plaza for dinner at the one of our all-time favorite restaurants, Jack Stack Barbecue. After putting our name in for a table at Jack Stack, we walked to a few different shops on JC Nichols Parkway. There’s a set of tile stairs along this road, and it was at the top of these that Alex got down on one knee to ‘tie his shoe’ and then shocked me with the question of forever with him. After picking my jaw up off the concrete and wiping away a few tears, I said ‘Yes!’”

The blissful couple tied the knot on May 17, 2014, a gorgeous 70-degree day with a light breeze, perfect for an outdoor barn wedding. Blaire’s sister, Lindsey Patrick, was Maid of Honor, and Sara Mast, served as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Samantha Moore, Stacy Johnson and Brianna Rieck. Alex chose Taylor Smith as his Best Man; groomsmen were Ben Prince, Derek Doane and Ethan Alexander. Flower girls were the ever-adorable daughters of family friends, Hailey and Miley Holland. Ring bearers were the bride’s handsome nephews, Landon Webernick and Noah Ford, who walked their tiny grooms-puppy, Kingsley, down the aisle.

“We wanted our wedding day to be laid back,” Blaire shares. “We kept our décor very simple and let the beauty of the venue speak for itself. Alex and his groomsmen wore khaki chinos and white shirts, maintaining the low-key atmosphere. Being able to spend the day in celebration with all of our closest friends and loved ones made our wedding so fun and special. Alex’s father, a Nazarene pastor in Michigan, performed our ceremony, and he made it so incredibly personal and beautifully tailored to our relationship. As he spoke of praying for Alex’s future spouse the day that they found out they were pregnant with him, there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience. That is something about our day that I cherish more than anything!”

Blaire and Alex honeymooned at an all-inclusive beach resort, the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun, Mexico. “We loved every minute of it!” they agree. “From the incredible buffets to the pristine aqua blue waters, we are already planning a trip to go back.” HLM
