Tied the Knot: September 18, 2016

Adena T. (Schutzman) Goza, 30, grew up in Los Angeles, California; she received her BA from UCLA and her JD from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

J. Kirk Goza, 31, grew up in Kansas City, Kansas; he earned a BA from Columbia University and JD from Georgetown University as well. Adena and J. Kirk currently live in Washington, D.C.

“J. Kirk and I met and became friends during the first week of law school, but we didn’t start dating until we were pretty much ready to graduate,” shares Adena. “J. Kirk proposed at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., the site of one of our first date spots.”

The blissful couple tied the knot September 18, 2016, in an elegant outdoor ceremony at historic Longview Mansion. “Our wedding was special to us as an opportunity for our friends and family, who are scattered across the country and overseas, to descend onto Kansas City to celebrate with us,” Adena notes. “It’s a midway point between both coasts and meaningful to us since it’s where J. Kirk’s family lives.”

Most of the out-of-town guests had never been to Kansas City before, and Adena and J. Kirk wanted to provide a taste of the city and a great party. “One of the fun items in our welcome gift basket was the iconic KC hat from Baldwin, among other local goodies. J. Kirk’s mom, Shirley Goza, and our wedding planner, Holly Davidson, helped us plan and execute a weekend with such incredible attention to detail. We could not have done it without them.”

Adena and J. Kirk plan a Mediterranean honeymoon for summer 2017. They love the beach and plan to spend time with extended family members who live in the region. ■
