Spotlight on Clothes Mentor

By  0 Comments

A mentor is someone who guides and counsels others as they progress in their career or other endeavors. At the Clothes Mentor, experienced and knowledgeable staff members offer this same assistance, helping you put together a fantastic outfit or even an entire wardrobe. But the best part is that the prices are a fraction of what you might pay in other retail clothing stores.

“At the Clothes Mentor, we’re here to help women buy name brand clothing and accessories at lower prices than regular retail stores,” noted Phyllis Lord, owner of the Overland Park store on 11610 West 135th Street. “We sell merchandise at a third of what it retails for in other stores. We focus on brands for mature women such as Ann Taylor, Express, Limited, Chico’s and many more lines of high-quality garments. On average, we can help our clients put together a great outfit for about $50.”

How is that possible? Clothes Mentor isn’t a consignment shop; it’s actually a resale clothing store for ladies, varying in sizes from 0 to 26, regular, petites and maternity. Items are like-new designer clothing at up to 70 percent off retail. All of the apparel, shoes, boots, handbags, jewelry and accessories are “gently-used,” and actually like new. Every item is in great shape, either fun and trendy or classic and timeless.

Beautiful and Organized

When you think of shopping for discounted clothing, you might picture racks and racks of mismatched clothing and unorganized piles of garments, which can put a big damper on your experience. You have to carefully investigate each of your potential purchases for holes, stains or other imperfections. But that’s not the case at Clothes Mentor. When you walk into this facility, you walk into a clean, beautiful, well-designed store with organized shelves and racks that make shopping fun and enjoyable. Clothes Mentor’s apparel is also organized by color and size, making it even easier to find what you’re looking for when it comes to that special outfit or something for home and work.

Keeping Clients Up to Date

Phyllis and her staff understand your life is always changing and these changes bring new needs for your wardrobe. Clothes Mentor can meet these everyday lifestyle changes by growing and adapting your wardrobe in a very cost-effective way. “Our clientele is composed of business women looking for office wear, teachers searching for comfortable clothes for the classroom and casual or athletic wear for everyone,” stated Phyllis. “We carry dresses and tops, nice slacks, shorts and ankle pants, even shoes and sandals. We’ll post pieces on Facebook and Instagram. But you’ll need to move when something goes on social media because it will soon be out the door.”

Personal Attention

To further assist customers with their shopping, Clothes Mentor has added a staff of personal shoppers to help guide you with your purchases. “We do have personal shoppers at the store to help you select that outfit for a special event or just to assist you in freshening up your style with our upscale inventory,” remarked Phyllis. “Any of our three personal shoppers can work with you. Just call for an appointment to review your style needs with them. Once they become your personal shopper, they can even call to let you know when items come in that fit your fashion desires.”

New Stock Daily

The inventory changes every day because Clothes Mentor buys clothing and other items every day. Clients are paid cash on-the-spot to purchase those better brand-name “gently used” women’s fashions and accessories. At a consignment shop, you may wait weeks to get your money.

“We’re different in that we pay you immediately for items that we would like to purchase. We buy and then resell your better brand name, “gently used” items that are in style from the last one to three years, laundered and in good condition,” said Phyllis. “We buy our merchandise from individuals who may or may not be our customers. Some take cash but many decide to take their sales in credit for other items in the store. But the important thing is that our inventory comes from customers who have beautiful designer pieces in their closet that just don’t get worn.”

It’s convenient to sell or buy your items at Clothes Mentor. Hours are weekdays, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5:00 p.m. The purchasing of clothes from customers ends two hours before store closing each day.

At Clothes Mentor you can find some great pieces to enhance your wardrobe and make your style even more chic and modern. Or maybe you would like to try some fun, new trends at a fraction of the cost. The inventory at Clothes Mentor is constantly changing, and you never know what gently used treasure you might find to add to your closet and your look while being kind to your wallet. HLM
