Spotlight on Brain Balance

By  0 Comments

Carolyn Pridemore walked in a skeptic, worn down from numerous treatments that promised her son, Andrew, the world, but delivered very little. She had tried everything before she made the call; she was desperate.

“My son’s life was saved. I truly believe that at some point he would have hurt himself, because at eight years old he already wanted to die. We were not going to a good place,” said Carolyn. “School was not going to get easier, and friendships were not going to get easier without Brain Balance. I owe them everything.”

Like so many others, Carolyn had watched her son struggle through school, friendships and relationships with family members. Anxiety and self-deprecation were quickly becoming normal behavior. It was a last ditch effort to avoid medication and a lifetime of doctors that made her pick up the phone. “I would tell any parent who is trying to decide whether or not it’s worth it and whether or not to take that risk that your kid is worth it and Brain Balance can help,” noted Carolyn.

Brain Balance Center is a completely non-medical program that works with kids struggling with social, behavioral or academic issues. Sensory motor activities, cognitive skills and a nutrition plan are tailored to each child to build the weaker side of the brain. This enables the two sides of the brain to communicate effectively, which increases and improves overall brain function. As the weaker side of the brain matures, symptoms of learning disabilities or social and behavioral disorders diminish.

Brain Balance is a data-driven, research-based program that addresses the root cause of these symptoms and disorders. For so long, parents have been given a list of symptoms, medications and maybe a few coping techniques, with very little hope for improvement or symptom relief. Brain Balance offers a non-invasive alternative, which has given so many families and children a better life.

“We have a team of professionals who are very passionate about helping children reach their fullest potential. Couple that with the progressive techniques we employ and extraordinary results can be achieved with your child,” said Rebecca Banks, center director. “On average, we’re improving brain function by two years during three months of programming at Brain Balance.”

During their time at Brain Balance, the child will come into the center three days per week for an hour each day. In addition, families commit to supplemental home programming exercises and a nutrition plan. Brain Balance is a commitment for everyone involved. The staff and directors are committed to the child’s programming and progress, and the family makes a commitment to a new lifestyle. With this commitment, each child who walks through the door sees positive results. “In a recent study conducted on children with ADHD, we found that 82 percent of the children in the Brain Balance program no longer had the criteria that qualified them for the ADHD diagnosis,” remarked Rebecca.

The Brain Balance Program is an integrated and whole-child approach beginning with a comprehensive assessment to understand exactly what the child’s strengths and weaknesses are. The three- to four-hour Brain Balance assessment determines if there is an age gap in the two hemispheres of the brain, what exactly that age gap is; and whether the child is a good candidate for the program. “The assessment tests more than 900 different functions and is performed in a single session. It’s not overwhelming to the child; most kids say that it’s fun,” said Rebecca. “While your child is undergoing the evaluation, you’ll have the opportunity to provide additional insight.”

The initial assessment is followed up with a Report of Assessment appointment on a separate day. Parents are provided a full report of all the data taken during the assessment as well as a plan of action to restore balance in the weaker side of the brain.

Parents who believe their child can benefit from the Brain Balance Program are encouraged to schedule a free consultation or call with any questions they might have. The staff looks forward to every opportunity to listen and to look for solutions to target the root cause of any child’s symptoms. A third of the new business at the Overland Park, Kansas, Brain Balance Center is families that have been referred by families of former students. This is a testament to the overall attitude and goals of the Brain Balance directors and staff, which is always to do what is best for the child and work toward fulfilling his or her unlimited potential.

“Brain Balance really is everything that they say it is and more,” stated Carolyn. HLM
