The Elevated Capsule

By  0 Comments

As of today, I am almost four months into mom-hood. I am enjoying every minute. But I now realize that working full time and being a mom full time is no joke. There just isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done. And while I have tried my very best to check everything off my internal list, it just doesn’t happen every day. Some days I would just rather enjoy all the snuggles and a little bit of sleep.

This is a brand-new lifestyle for me, and with a lifestyle change sometimes comes a wardrobe change. Learning how to juggle everything in my life has caused me to simplify anything and everything. This includes the way I dress.

Simplifying your style doesn’t mean boring and it definitely doesn’t mean yoga pants every day. But for me, it does mean sticking to more of a capsule wardrobe with an easy color palette. At first this was really tough for me. Typically, I love to try new trends, wear a little bit of color here and there and never wear the same outfit twice. A capsule wardrobe by definition is a limited grouping of clothing items that can be mixed and matched in multiple ways over and over. I have created multiple wardrobes like this for my clients, but not for myself. Until now!

To make the capsule wardrobe work for me, I decided to put my own spin on it. I now stick to the basics in a color palette of black, white and denim with an amazing shoe! I have always been a shoe lover (what woman isn’t?) and there is not a shoe trend that I don’t love. I am loving every mule out there, whether it is flat or has a block heel. I also covet any shoe that is metallic or has a pop of a print, such as python, and sparkles, because when you wear mostly basics, just a pop of sparkle is perfect. My favorite right now is my new pair of white sneakers with a pop of leopard on the side, because leopard is a neutral and they coordinate with everything!

If you are feeling the need to downsize your closet and simplify your wardrobe game, take the plunge and try an elevated capsule wardrobe. You don’t have to sacrifice your style, because when I say “elevate” I really mean “buy all the shoes”!
