For the past few months, I’ve gravitated toward neutral colors such as black, grey and white, sometimes throwing in some stripes here and there. With summer right around the corner, I’m eager to add color to my outfits to celebrate rising temperatures, evenings on the patio and shorts! Before I ran out the door to do some shopping, I needed to do some homework first. The “IT” colors for Summer 2016 will be happy, bright, warm and enchanting, just like summer should be, and the perfect solution to make a neutral wardrobe pop!

Summer 2016 Color Forecast

  1. Limpet Stone: Bolder than a pastel, this minty blue hue is inspired by a sun-kissed ocean. Pair this with orange and red and accessorize with metallic golds.
  2. Fiesta: This fiery orange-red is sure to highlight your sun-kissed skin. Add a pop of color to any look with this brilliant color. This hue coordinates with neutrals such as black and white but also pink and navy blue. Accessorize with bright gold.
  3. Peach Echo: This is contemporary coral. This shade combines orange, pink and red and results in a perky shade for summer. Wear it with blue and black and accessorize with rose gold for a mixed media look.
  4. Buttercup: Vibrant, warm and pairs well with royal blue and grey. For an ultra-modern look, wear this cheery hue with black or even nude.
  5. Snorkel Blue: Friendly and bright, this blue packs a punch. It’s so versatile you can wear it with nearly any other color in the forecast. It’s my fave new color!
  6. Lilac Grey: This sophisticated grey with violet undertones has a hint of playfulness. Use it as a secondary color to tone down some of the brighter colors. I’m loving the light grey denim I am seeing all over in this color too!
  7. Green Flash: This vivid and happy green lets everyone know summer is here! As green can sometimes be complicated to pull off, try accessorizing in this shade or pairing with white so as not to overwhelm your outfit.

Don’t be afraid to combine these colors! Some of my new favorite outfits include snorkel blue, fiesta and buttercup. To ease into these trends, look for fun jewels, lightweight scarves, clutches and shoes. A new subtle way to add a pop of color is with a bright-colored suede pump. Not looking for heels? There are lots of wrap-around-the-ankle flat sandals in color to try too! Are you the trendsetter among your friends? The colorful tie-up-the-leg block heels are making me swoon. Move over, rose quartz and serenity; the summer color palette is here and it is haute. HLM
