Invested in the Community: Erin Lenser of Edward Jones
Studies have shown that 40 to 45 percent of Americans make New Year’s resolutions. One of the top three declarations of change is the desire to make better financial decisions in the upcoming 12 months.
Erin Lenser, a financial advisor at Edward Jones in Lodi, knows that this particular resolution is not only important, but one that needs attention and action at any time of the year. A graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, Erin joined the Edward Jones team recently, working alongside her father-in-law, Phil Lenser, as he transitions toward retirement. Coincidentally, Erin’s husband, Jeremy, is also an Edward Jones financial advisor, making the couple’s mission of helping San Joaquin County residents plan for their financial future a family affair.
Clients Come First
“I made the career shift to financial advising after working many years in the project management field,” Erin shared. “Through my husband and father-in-law, I saw the ability to be a financial advisor as an option to work with people face-to-face and genuinely make a positive impact on their lives. Being able to work for an investment firm where the client is always the first priority was also extremely appealing to me. So I made the leap to this new career and I began the long and rigorous training and licensing requirements needed to become part of the Edward Jones Investments family. My goal is getting to know each client personally as I continue to build the relationship and partner with them for many years to come.”
As a company, Edwards Jones is nationally known for their financial services that offer a complete range of investments and services to individual investors. These services are specially geared toward the serious long-term investor and include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, CDs, annuities, insurance, retirement plans, education savings plans, advisory services, estate considerations and tax-advantaged investments. For those who are looking to the future and the college years of their children or grandchildren, Edward Jones offers 529 College Saving Plans as well as other education savings strategies that will make the grade.
“As an Edward Jones financial advisor, I believe it’s imperative to take the time to help each client understand what they’re working toward before they invest their money,” Erin noted. “Everyone’s vision of college, retirement or legacy planning looks different. I want all of our clients to understand their options and to ascertain the level of risk they’re comfortable accepting. Through this face-to-face time together, I can discover each client’s individual goals and balance them with the steps necessary to them.
“Financial matters can often be overwhelming and intimidating, but I work diligently to educate my clients. By partnering with them in these decisions, ultimately I am assisting them to make informed choices when it comes to paying for a child’s education, retiring on their terms or creating a legacy for their family. As our clients’ lives evolve and their needs change, Edwards Jones is there every step of the way to service all those stages of life.”
Dedicated to providing clients top-notch client service, Erin revealed that her love for community is one of the many things that inspire her to go above and beyond on a daily basis. “Lodi is a one-of-a-kind community and I am honored to call it home. I strive to support the community where I live, work and play by being as involved as I can. I am an active part of Lodi Sunrise Rotary; I am the Charities Chair for a women’s group dedicated to giving back to non-profits called Lambda Theta Phi and I am also a recent graduate of Leadership Stockton.”
When she’s not helping clients with financial needs or volunteering her time and talents, Erin shared that she loves to travel with her husband, Jeremy. She also treasures long leisurely bike rides, hanging out with her friends and being a fur baby mom to the family cat, Cat.
Planning for Tomorrow
“I truly love what I do, and I’m so grateful that I made the career shift that I did,” Erin noted. “I can’t imagine doing anything else for a living and I am honored to have the opportunity to help San Joaquin County residents plan for their future.
“My advice to those who know they need to take action on their financial future, but who are unsure how or where to start, is to simply take the first step. Seek out a knowledgeable professional and ask the questions and explore options. It’s never too late to take charge of your financial future.” ■
