Because There’s No Place Like Home: Diamond Care, Inc.™

By  0 Comments

“We know the importance of home and family because all of us at Diamond Care are mothers, fathers, daughters and sons. We have taken care of ailing or aging parents or loved ones after a medical procedure. We know the stress, frustration and exhaustion that come with care giving.”

As the holiday season approaches, many of us are making plans to return home, where family traditions are celebrated along with the joy of being with loved ones. This is also the time of year when adult children of aging parents may possibly begin to notice changes in Mom and Dad; they may observe changes that lead to concern and worry. These new developments can include noticing that their parents are not getting around as well as they used to, are withdrawn or depressed, and they may be hearing parents mention feeling lonely.

It’s at these times that adult children and family members may realize they need to consider new options and resources to ensure the safety, health and mental wellbeing of their loved ones. Knowing that “there’s no place like home,” Diamond Care, Inc.™ of French Camp, California, offers reliable and professional senior and adult in-home care specifically for those times when there’s the need for a helping hand.

Within Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Sacramento, Contra and Alameda counties, Diamond Care, Inc. ™ provides 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week in-home non-medical services that are tailored to each individual client. These services include options such as assistance with medications, transportation to doctor’s visits, providing companionship and emotional support, ensuring the client had nutritious meals and snacks, assistance with physical therapy needs and, most importantly, helping to maintain close communication among client, family members and healthcare providers.

“We understand both perspectives of families who are faced with the realization that their loved one may be struggling,” stated Diamond Care owner and founder Gloria Murphy. “We know the importance of home and family because all of us at Diamond Care are mothers, fathers, daughters and sons. We have taken care of ailing or aging parents or loved ones after a medical procedure. We know the stress, frustration and exhaustion that come with care giving. We want to let everyone know that sometimes you just need a helping hand; and that’s okay.

“We also understand our clients’ perspective and how important it is for them to be able to live at home while still being able to maintain some type of independent living,” Gloria continued. “Being in their own homes, surrounded by the things and people that they value the most, makes our clients feel safe and secure. Many of our clients are used to being independent, and it’s a big change to have to ask for help. But we work to offer that care and assistance in a way that allows them to still maintain a high quality of life from home.”

The mission of Diamond Care is to help promote social, emotional, and physical well-being clients by helping them to maintain or restore their optimal functional potential while assisting them to remain in or return to their homes. “I take extensive steps to employ only high-quality and knowledgeable employees, and my six caregivers have 30 years combined experience,” Gloria noted. “They are all trained in first aid and CPR along with an intensive eight-hour training that allows them to be Diamond Care Inc.™ certified. I strive to provide our clients with well trained and compassionate care givers who in turn give the family members peace of mind.”

Gloria holds a bachelor of science degree in biology with a concentration in biochemistry and a master of science in phytoparasitology and biomedical science. Her extensive experience in the healthcare industry includes employment at prestigious facilities such as Stanford University Medical Center, Lucile Salter Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. But the desire to own her own business and to be able to give assistance to those in need has been deep in her heart for many years.

“My mother was very sick with cancer around ten years ago, and during that time I did my best to help, but I remember feeling the frustration of living far away,” Gloria revealed. “It was during that time that I had a seed of an idea to create a business that created a higher quality of service and a more standard level of at-home assisted care, with an emphasis on helping others live as independently as possible.

“Business ownership has been a long-time dream in the making for me, and I realized my dream in July 2014 when I founded Diamond Care, Inc.™. My wonderful 96-year old father, Sebastian Leal, is such an inspiration to me about what it takes to pursue our dreams and to be disciplined enough to never give up. He is not only my mentor; he is also a client of my business. He is family, but we treat all of our clients like they are an extension of our family. We treat all of our clients as we would wish our own family members to be treated, with love, respect and dignity.”
