Kaylin and Josh Willimott

By  0 Comments

Kaylin Willimott, 26, grew up in Waterford, New York, and went to Catholic Central High School in Troy. She attended the College of Saint Rose, earning her bachelor’s degree in 2009 and her master’s in 2010, and is now a fourth grade special education teacher with the Chatham Central School District.

Josh Willimott, 27 years old, was born and raised in East Greenbush, New York. He’s an avid sports fan and played Division 1 baseball at SUNY Albany, earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in education. Kaylin and Josh love traveling and going to the beach. The couple purchased their first home last year in East Greenbush, where they reside with their two lovable canines, Howie, a two-year-old Boston terrier, and Lola, a five-month-old Labrador retriever/shepherd mix.

On a typical Friday night in November, Kaylin was having dinner with a friend at The Standard Restaurant in Albany “Two nights each year, The Standard turns into a night club; the restaurant brings up a DJ from New York City and they remove all of the tables. Josh knew this, and showed up with a group of friends,” Kaylin smiles. “On this particular night they happened to be promoting Grey Goose. Josh and I met by chance; a week later he sent me flowers for my birthday! We have been inseparable ever since.”

Howie, the irrepressible and active Boston terrier, played a role in Josh’s proposal on March 8, 2013. “We were supposed to be going out to dinner that night and Josh came home late,” Kaylin laughs. “He stood at the door of our apartment waiting for me to catch Howie so we could put him in his room while we went out. I was so frustrated chasing Howie around when Josh yelled ‘I got him!’ I went around the corner to find Josh on one knee. I cried my eyes out, especially when I saw that the diamond was my grandmother’s, which Josh had reset into a beautiful engagement ring. It was an immediate ‘Yes,’ after all the happy tears!”

The blissful couple tied the knot on July 4, 2014. Kaylin’s sister, Tara Carmody, served as Matron of Honor, with their sister Alanna Normandin as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Hopeck, the groom’s sister, and Lauren Robbins, the bride’s best friend. Al Barbato stood with Josh as Best Man, and groomsmen were Derek Bryden, Sean Donovan and Kyle Meyer. The precious flower girls were Olivia and Leigha Reedy, cousins of the bride.

“We chose the Fourth of July for our wedding day, so of course we played on the red, white and blue theme!” Kaylin shares. “Josh wore American flag socks while the groomsmen wore red ones. The bridesmaids all had vibrant red dresses with aqua accents. My grandparents surprised us by hiring an Uncle Sam to greet everyone at cocktail hour. Josh, in his college days, played baseball all over the country, from Kansas to New Mexico, so in keeping with July Fourth we also threw in some baseball theme! Guests received baseball tickets to find their section numbers (table assignments) and were given Cracker Jack® as their favor. The slider and milkshake bar were a hit during cocktail hour, and the Uncle Sam signature drink was popular with its bright shade of red.” Family and friends celebrated with Kaylin and Josh and danced the night away.

Since Kaylin taught summer school, the couple delayed their honeymoon until the end of August, when they took a trip to Riviera Maya in Mexico. It was a relaxing getaway where they could lounge on the beach, enjoy the sun and unwind.
