Favorite Things

HLM: What is your favorite thing in your closet?

LY: My vintage cowgirl shirt {H Bar C} and collection of cowgirl boots, new and vintage. I’m a collector of many things and love vintage. They don’t make ’em like they used to.

HLM: What is your favorite thing in your purse?

LY: ChapStick. Original ChapStick, black and white tube, my dad’s favorite and the only one that heals and doesn’t taste like a lollipop.

HLM: What is your favorite makeup item?

LY: Lipstick. I don’t wear it every day and never to work, but I like my “Big Girl Lips” when a night gets me out on the town, usually to hear a good band and do some dancing.

HLM: Where is your favorite place to travel?

LY: I don’t have a ton of time to travel lately, so when I do I go to Anna Maria Island, Florida, rent a condo right on the beach, and bring my 86-year-old mom from her assisted living home in nearby Sarasota to hang, eat fried oysters and crab cakes, drink margaritas and watch sunsets into the Gulf of Mexico.

HLM: What is your favorite perfume?

LY: I don’t wear perfume. I prefer a great scented body lotion by Caldrea, and when that runs out there is always Nivea.

HLM: What book are you reading right now?

LY: I don’t even have time to read through my daily newspapers.

HLM: What is your favorite charitable organization?

LY: I keep it local. The Humane Society is my fave, but also other Community Builds and events that are happening, two local ski centers in Saranac Lake and our famed Winter Carnival. I’m always donating rugs for the year-round silent auctions present at local fundraisers both in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake.

HLM: What was your favorite piece of advice that you’ve received?

LY: Dance to your own beat, not someone else’s. Take lessons and learn the correct grip before taking up the game of golf.
